New Eyes for the Needy

Empower children and adults in the United States and overseas with the improved vision they need to pursue a better quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities.

New Eyes for the Needy is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1932 to improve the vision of the poor. Recycling programs, include sorting, testing and packaging of used glasses, In 2015-2016, New Eyes helped 9,910 U.S. residents in need and recycled 248,945 glasses in 41 developing countries.

The Overseas Program receives  donations of used glasses from all across the country. Trained volunteers test and sort the glasses into different categories. After which they distribute the glasses through international charitable organizations and small medical missions.  Eyeglasses have traveled to over 87 countries all around the world.
